What the trials measure
in skin, over months and years.

  • Fewer fine wrinkles8 trials

randomized trials with 1,361 adults, pooled: tretinoin cream reduced fine wrinkling versus the same cream without it (a difference of 0.41 on the trials' grading scale) over 16 to 48 weeks.

Huang & Lee, Dermatol Pract Concept 2025
  • Better skin, by your account82%

of women said their skin had improved at week 24 on spironolactone, versus 63% on placebo (odds ratio 2.72). Trial of 410 women with persistent facial acne in England and Wales, taking 50 to 100 mg a day. The quality-of-life gain at week 12 was small: 1.27 points on the Acne-QoL symptom scale.

    SAFA trial, BMJ 2023
  • Clearer skin26 to 35%

of people had an improved Investigator Global Assessment score at week 12 on a topical retinoid plus benzoyl peroxide, versus 7 to 12% on vehicle. Pooled from 54 trials of US-approved topical retinoids, tretinoin among them, published 2008 to 2018.

Kolli et al., Am J Clin Dermatol 2019

Across 101 studies from Europe and North America, acne mostly affected the emotional and psychological side of quality of life, and weighed most on adults, women and people with more severe disease. Layton et al., Am J Clin Dermatol 2025

Trial results are with the studied medicines at their studied doses, alongside a clinician-guided routine. Compounded versions were not studied in these trials. They are averages, not a prediction of your result.

How long until I see results?

Acne usually improves in two to three months; fine lines and tone take longer. The first weeks can look worse before they look better.

Is peeling normal?

Yes. Dryness, redness and peeling are common in the first weeks. Using it a few nights a week at first and a gentle moisturizer helps.

Can I use it while pregnant?

Topical retinoids are not used during pregnancy. Tell your physician if you are pregnant, planning to be or breastfeeding.

Do I need sunscreen?

Yes, every day. Retinoids and brightening creams make skin more sensitive to the sun, and the sun undoes their work on dark spots.

How is it billed?

Monthly, every 3 months or every 6 months; longer plans cost less per month. Shipping is free and you can pause or cancel anytime.
